Heavy rain in training - Puhakka / Eskelinen celebrate class victory in first race
The free practice sessions were difficult at first, as heavy rain interrupted the sessions several times: In the first qualifying, however, everything was at stake in the dry: Ben Gersekowski on #2 scored the fifth fastest time (P3 PRO) and secured himself and team mate Richard Muscat a good starting position for the race. In the Leipert Motorsport Lamborghini #33 it was Mikko Eskelinen who was one of the fastest drivers in the field with seventh place. For him and his team mate Juuso Puhakka the starting position was 3rd in the PRO-AM classification.
Lamborghini #2 starting driver Ben Gersekowski surprised with a brilliant start, where he could put himself directly behind the leader, but was under pressure from the third placed driver. However, he brilliantly defended his second place during thrilling duels up to the driver change. Thanks to a perfect pit stop, team mate Richard Muscat returned to the race again as runner-up, but this time with a clear lead over third place. He was able to reduce the distance to the leader and crossed the finish line just behind the leader on P2 overall, the podium finish in his bag.
In the Lamborghini #33 the good final result was topped: Mikko Eskelinen had a perfect start and skilfully defended his third position in the PRO-AM. After driver change it was team mate Juuso Puhakka who overtook two rivals and could catch another rival shortly before the end. The reward: The class victory in PRO-AM and P4 overall.
Pole position and more trophies also in second race
Richard Muscat was behind the wheel of the #2 Lamborghini at the start of the second race. After a good start from eighth overall (P4 PRO), the Australian was already on P4 after a few corners and handed over to wheel to Ben Gersekowski after a perfect stint. Gersekowski returned to the track as third after the pitstop. After hard battles in the leading field Ben lost one place and crossed the finish line on P4 overall and on P3 in the PRO category with further important championship points on his account.
Juuso Puhakka started the second race on Sunday with the #33 Lamborghini from the front row (pole position in the PRO-AM, P2 overall). He skilfully took the lead and henceforth led the field before taking a drive-through penalty. Juuso completed the drive-through penalty and later handed over to his team mate Mikko Eskelinen in seventh place. After a perfect stint, the Finn brought the Italian bull to the finish line in seventh place overall: P3 and podium in the PRO-AM classification.
