At the season opener of the newly founded ADAC GT4 Germany, Leipert Motorsport collected the first championship points with the junior duo Morgan Haber / Luci Trefz. The duo reached third place in the junior classification on Sunday!

Wegberg, Germany - Monday, 29.04.2019

Last weekend the ADAC GT4 Germany started for the first time as part of the ADAC GT Masters. With 24 starters a full field - and right in the middle the yellow-green Mercedes AMG GT4 from Leipert Motorsport - or as the commentators say "the MANN-Filter Baby-Mamba". With Luci Trefz (17, Germany) and Morgan Haber (25, Australia) Leipert Motorsport has the youngest driver duo in the field, which showed a constant upward trend over the whole weekend.

Safety car phases determine the first race phase

The ADAC GT4 Germany started the first two free practice sessions on Friday in bright sunshine. Trefz and Haber took the chance to familiarize themselves with the unknown track. However, the qualifying scheduled for Friday had to be rescheduled to Saturday morning after the track barrier was damaged and the repairs continued. Early in the morning, 17-year-old Luci Trefz was able to finish tenth in the qualifying (P5 Junior classification). In the race the junior had some tough duels - but fought bravely against his rivals. He handed the car over to his team mate Morgan Haber after the first half of the race on P10. Haber also had some strong fights in the race and was - after the third Safety Car phase - on P7 overall. After another restart a few seconds before the end of the race he lost one position, but saved the "Baby Mamba" #48 in 8th place across the finish line (P5 junior classification).

Second Top Ten Result and P3 of the Junior Standings

Sunday morning it was up to Morgan Haber to settle the starting position in qualifying for race 2. And under the most difficult conditions: It rained heavily and the 3.667-kilometre circuit didn't allow any mistakes. On the third lap the Australian lost the car and ended up in the gravel. His fastest time until then was therefore only sufficient for 21st place on the grid.

Start of the second race in the afternoon: Haber attacked and fought his way steadily forward. P20, P18, P17 - up to 13th place he pushed forward like a hot knife through the butter with the AMG GT4 #48. Infected by the fighting spirit of his team mate, Trefz also overtook some competitors. In seventh place he saw the chequered flag - P3 in the Junior ranking!

Leipert Motorsport is satisfied with the first race weekend of the ADAC GT4 Germany. The first hurdles are mastered. For the German team supported by MOTUL, the second round of the GT4 European Championship (04.-05.05.2019) will continue with the AMG GT4 #2 (Trefz/Paverud) and #4 (Kisiel/Koebolt) in the British Brands Hatch next weekend.
