In high summer temperatures Leipert Motorsport presented itself last weekend at the 42-starter record field of the GT4 European Series on the French Paul Ricard Circuit. After two turbulent races the driver duo Kisiel / Koebolt were on the overall podium and Paverud / Trefz on the podium of their class.

Wegberg, Germany - Monday, 03.06.2019

The Circuit Paul Ricard in Le Castellet, France, served as the venue for the second GT4 European Series event. On the 6,105 kilometres long course, space was found for 42 racing cars - a record field this year.  In the heat Leipert Motorsport fought its way onto the podium with the two driver duos Marcus Paverud (18, Norway) / Luci Trefz (17, Germany) and Jan Kisiel (24, Poland) / Max Koebolt (21, Netherlands).

Podium missed - Top 10 twice in first race

In qualifying it was shown how difficult it is to burn a fast lap time into the asphalt with 42 starters.  Marcus Paverud only reached the 29th starting position for the first race. Also the sixth place of Max Koebolt could not reflect the performance.
Paverud, who started the race from the last third, was not discouraged and worked his way up to 16th place in the first half. When team mate Luci Trefz took over the steering wheel of the "Baby-Mamba", he was able to make up another place. Result: 15th overall and a good sixth place in the PRO/AM ranking.
Max Koebolt was equally motivated at the start: Despite initially losing his position at the start, he ploughed through the field and handed over on ninth place to Jan Kisiel, who took one rival after the other with fast speed.  Seventh place, six, five, then fourth.  With slight high-spiritedness he touched a rival in the overtaking effort - which the race control penalized with a drive-through penalty. Overall ninth place and class seventh (Silver) was in the end a limitation of damage for an actually safe podium place.

Both Leipert Motorsport Mercedes AMG GT4 on the podium

The second race was more promising.  Jan Kisiel, who gave away the podium the day before, showed the other professionals who is the boss. Front row with starting place two for the second race! He skilfully managed to hold the starting position.  After a safety car phase he duelled for third place and handed over fourth place to Koebolt. The Dutchman collected the 510 horses of his Mercedes and crossed the finish line as third overall (P3 Silver). The podium: Finally successful!
Equally successful: Luci Trefz!  Starting place 15 and started to catch up. Until the safety car phase he was in twelfth place before he handed over to Paverud. The Norwegian went even further: He reached the ninth overall position - second place in the PRO/AM classification and the second podium at this race weekend for Leipert Motorsport.

After two exciting races, the team supported by MOTUL was rewarded with two well-deserved podium places.
The next stop for the team from Wegberg will be the ADAC GT4 Germany race-weekend at the Red Bull Ring (07.-09.06.2019).
