The Lamborghini Super Trofeo Asia last weekend was tough. While the Leipert Motorsport duo Brendon Leitch and Massimo Vignali were first shot off in the first race and then fought back to tenth place, the driver duo was rewarded the following day with P3 of the PRO/AM classification.

Wegberg, Germany - Wednesday, 10.07.2019

Another double entry for the team Leipert Motorsport: One team successfully competed with a Mercedes AMG GT4 in the 24 Hours of Portimao - in Fuji the other team with a Lamborghini Super Trofeo EVO collected important championship points in two races and a podium position together with the two drivers Brendon Leitch (23, New Zealand) and Massimo Vignali (45, Italy).

Shot off and last place - Leitch and Vignali save first race

The young New Zealander Brendon Leitch finished second on the 4.563-kilometre race track in Fuji in qualifying and was looking forward to the first race which he was able to start from the front row. But the mood was quickly clouded: Shortly after the lights switched to green, the 23-year-old was shot off the track. From there he had to line up again from last place. But Brendon didn't give up so quickly. In the first half of the race he cashed in one competitor after the other. After the driver change his team mate Massimo Vignali did the same: He also made up a few places. The result: Tenth place overall and P4 in the PRO/AM classification as damage limitation.

A cheerful weekend-ending: In the second race a podium

On the Fuji Speedway, the Lamborghini reach a maximum speed of 283 km/h in the ten corners. Massimo Vignali also made use of this and reached 13th place on the grid for the second race in qualifying.
During the flying start the AM driver did a good job and defended his position. A not so easy undertaking, especially as the Lamborghini Super Trofeo is a mixed race of amateur and professional drivers. Team mate Brendon Leitch took over after half the half of the race and pushed forward with the Italian bull. In the end, they finished seventh overall and P3 in the PRO/AM with fair manoeuvres and flawless duels. Another podium finish and important championship points at the third Lamborghini Super Trofeo Asia Event!

After the mid-season, the MOTUL supported Team Leipert Motorsport from Wegberg will continue in the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Asia with the fourth event at the beginning of August in Korea (02.-04.08.2019).
