As part of the prestigious 24-hour race, the fourth Lamborghini Super Trofeo Europe event invited to the Belgian Circuit Spa-Francorchamps.  The duo #33 Mikko Eskelinen / Jake Rattenbury from Leipert Motorsport again achieved a class victory in the AM classification, while the two PRO drivers Niels Lagrange and Anthony Lambert collected more championship points on the #30.

Wegberg, Germany - Monday, July 29, 2019

The Belgian Grand Prix Circuit Spa-Francorchamps is best known for its famous "Eau Rouge" corner, in which the Lamborghini Huracan ST reach top speeds of up to 245 km/h.  This race course, which is around 7.004 kilometres long, is not for the faint-hearted.  But the four Leipert Motorsport drivers Mikko Eskelinen (47, Finland), Jake Rattenbury (25, Great Britain), Niels Lagrange (28, Belgium) and Anthony Lambert (19, Belgium) showed strong nerves.

Class victory in the AM classification and points for the PRO duo

qualifying the #33 AM duo Eskelinen / Rattenbury performed brilliantly: Twice they reached the Pole position in their class (starting position nine overall). The start of the first race was taken over by Jake Rattenbury, who quickly moved up to sixth place. Until the driver change he kept the position for himself.  Team mate Mikko Eskelinen took over the wheel of the Italian bull and claimed class victory.

Anthony Lambert started race one on the Lamborghini #30. After a good start from position 6 on the grid, after a short time he was touched hard by a competitor, which dropped him back to position twelve. After the driver change it was up to Niels Lagrange to limit the damage. He made his way to the front and crossed the finish line in eighth place.

Race collision prevents another podium finish

Race two came to an early end for the #33 AM duo: Mikko Eskelinen kept ninth place after the start and was able to defend his place. However, on the fourth lap he was shot off the track roughly. As a result, he towed the ruined Lamborghini back to the pits, but it was not possible to regain the race with this damage. The early knockout for the class winners of the previous day.

In the Leipert Motorsport PRO Lamborghini #30 Niels Lagrange took over the start for race two. Only a short time after the race was started, he was already in fourth place. Anthony Lambert took over the wheel after the half of the race and lost two places in tough duels. He finished sixth overall and collected further important championship points.

The next round of the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Europe will be held at the end of August as part of the Blancpain GT at the Nürburgring (30.08.-01.09.2019).

The MOTUL supported team from Wegberg is starting this week with two Huracán ST in the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Asia on the Korean International Circuit (Mokpo/Korea) with the drivers Brendon Leitch/Jake Rattenbury & Dann Wells/Philip Kadoorie.
