On the famous Nürburgring Leipert Motorsport competed to the seventh and eighth round of the ADAC GT4 Germany. After a thunderstorm warning and heavy rainfall however, the two youngsters Luci Trefz and Morgan Haber managed to finish third in the junior classification on Saturday.

Wegberg, Germany - Monday, August 19, 2019

The Nürburgring in the midst of the Eifel is definitely known for one thing: Changing weather conditions, which are mainly characterized by rain and heavy fog. This weekend it was much more turbulent than expected: Strong wind and huge rain made the fourth ADAC GT4 Germany race weekend more difficult for the two Mercedes-AMG GT4 drivers Luci Trefz (17, Germany) and Morgan Haber (25, Australia).

In the fight with the pros - Leipert Motorsport drivers prove great talent

On Friday, the number of 24 cars started into qualifying to fight out the starting positions for the two races this weekend.  Luci Trefz climbed into the Leipert Motorsport Mercedes and impressed with the fifth fastest time for the first race. Also Morgan Haber gave his all and could drive out a position from seventh starting row.

The yellow-green Mercedes-AMG GT4, lovingly called the "Mini-Mamba" by fans and commentators, became a big eye-catcher on Saturday: Starting driver Luci Trefz prevailed against the pros and was third after the first corner, before he was even second behind the leader. Ambitiously he tried to defend his position against the other professional racers and impressed with exciting duels, but was then dropped back to fourth place. When his Australian teammate Morgan Haber took over the wheel after the half, he defended the position Luci had fought for and took the Mercedes safely across the finish line, rewarding the two youngsters with third place in the junior classification! Congratulations!

Drift-race on Sunday - rain provides slippery asphalt

The second Nürburgring race on Sunday was declared as a wet race - the asphalt was very slippery. Morgan Haber, who started the Sunday race, was able to set himself apart at the beginning. He ranked tenth and a little later he turned eighth. Then he also slipped, missed the braking point and had to line up as twelfth again. Shortly before the driver change, however, smoke development from the engine compartment made itself noticeable, which did not let anything good suspect.

Water cooler and front parts were so badly damaged by a racing collision that he had to end the race early at the pit stop.

At the end of August again the Nürburgring

The Nürburgring presented itself from its treacherous side last weekend. For Leipert Motorsport, however, this race on the Eifel circuit is not the only one. Already at the end of August the MOTUL supported team will travel again to the Nürburgring with two Mercedes-AMG GT4 as championship leader of the Silver, the ProAm and the team ranking of the GT4 European Series. Also in the luggage of the Wegberger team: Three Lamborghini Huracán, who will compete in the Lamborghini Super Trofeo on the same race weekend. The races will be held as part of the Blancpain GT Series from 30.08.2019 to 01.09.2019.
