Wegberg, Germany - Monday, 16 September 2019
The penultimate race weekend of the ADAC GT4 Germany took place at the Hockenheimring. Within the framework of the ADAC GT Masters Leipert Motorsport celebrated not only the first podium victory but also the first race victory in the ADAC GT4 Germany together with his two young drivers Luci Trefz and Morgan Haber. This showed the great success of the junior training in the team supported by MOTUL.
Only narrowly missed the podium with fourth place
The ADAC GT4 Germany started the penultimate race weekend of the season in front of a scenery with about 20,000 spectators. Luci Trefz qualified in seventh place on Saturday morning and thus had a comfortable starting position for the first race. During the chaotic start he lost two positions before a 15-minute safety car phase followed. A damaged car was recovered in a cumbersome way and blocked the remaining part of the race. After the restart, Luci, who became GT4 European Series Champion a few days earlier, fought his way back to seventh place before handing over to his teammate Morgan Haber. The Australian returned to the track in fifth place and was able to improve to third place. The hoped-for podium: within reach! But shortly before the end Haber had to let pass a competitor and saw the chequered flag as fourth overall.
Outstanding race victory - Luci and Morgan are at the top of the podium
Full of motivation they went into the second race on Sunday. Morgan Haber started the race from ninth place. After the start the Mercedes-pilot was already in eighth place, continued to fight his way up to fifth place. After a short safety car interruption Morgan really pushed the gas again and handed over the wheel of the Baby-Mamba to Luci Trefz, who came back on the track in first position after an excellent pit stop. The youngster was able to gain a lead of seven and a half seconds over the runner-up. Then, just before the end of the race, the safety car had to come out on track again. The race was restarted just one minute before the end. Luci was able to defend his position and when the chequered flag fell, relief spread throughout the team. First race victory for Leipert Motorsport in the ADAC GT4 Germany and two proud youngsters on the top of the podium.
Let it go on like this! In less than 14 days it's already time for the season finale of the GT4 Germany at the Sachsenring (26.-29.09.2019).
